This year's congress of the European Society of Uroradiology (ESUR) took place in Athens from October 13-16, 2022, in which Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Ramona Woitek participated as a member of the Female Pelvic Imaging Workgroup. Her lecture highlighted the field of radiogenomics and how it can contribute to a better understanding of the heterogeneous tumor microenvironment in ovarian cancer (title: Radiogenomics: Unravelling tumor heterogeneity in ovarian cancer). A general introduction to radiomics was followed by examples of how inter- and intratumoral heterogeneity can be quantified and contribute to prognosis prediction. The correlation of radiomics with molecular tumor characteristics was also discussed along with various approaches such as radiomics-targeted biopsies and 3D-printed tumor dishes for improved pathological tissue workup.
